i agree.  i can specifically remember whan a large vendor whose
employees caucused internally and tried to apply *corporate*
pressure at all sorts of points in the ietf, including the chair,
to achieve their marketing goal.  and you're right, it didn't work
out well.

but frank is right, thinking we can change this is naive.  learning
to deal with it is not.
