There is also the question of the IETF shedding some work so that the 
IESG can focus better. One thing I hear repeatedly in the VPN space 
is that the IETF should get rid of the whole Sub-IP Area and all 
layer-2 work, handing it off to other organizations that already 
exist, have staff, and so on.

I really feel bad for the majority of the ADs when they have to look 
at some of the MPLS stuff which isn't IP at all. Those brain cells 
could be better spent on actual Internet work.
