My technique to accomplish this in the wgs I've chaired is to give a
standard management status report at every IETF.  It's typicall a four
chart presentation:  Accomplishments, Plans, Issues, and a Milestone
review.  I try to use this for the basis for my comments on next steps that
come up during the wg meeting.  It organizes my thoughts and has the added
benefit of briefing the AD (if they're in the room :).
