Would [barber] be o.k. for a subtag name?  I do agree with Michael Everson that emode is quite confusing; likewise with Mark Davis that the subtags like 1606nict are somewhat cryptic and I'm not sure we need more of those.


I kind of like [tudor] myself (http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/ent/A0858001.html; the Tudor era quickly followed the development of printing so that did help to change language).  You don't have room for a date with [tudor] however.


With [elizxxxx] you do, if you want a date that is.  (Is that too cryptic though?)
