Michael:

While overall I am appreciate of the work you do as language tag reviewer,
I am a little bit disappointed in this situation. I thought you were
favouring the alternate sub-tag ordering I had suggested (you made comments
to that effect within the past two days), and I wish you had allowed the
discussion to continue at least just a little longer. I haven't yet seen
any response to the comments I made in reply to Torsten last night. As I
mentioned then, I'm just concerned that we don't make hasty decisions now
that might limit us in the long run. The concern may have nothing to it,
but I don't think the issues have been considered enough yet to know that.
At least, I certainly don't feel I know (but maybe they're obvious to
everyone but me). If multiple people -- even just those who had made
comments related to the two possible orderings -- responded to my post from
last night saying that, in spite of the reasoning I present there, they
think it very important to keep the ordering originally proposed, I would
have been willing to concede on the issue. But you moved to close the issue
before that could happen. I personally don't feel we had reached a
consensus. I know the rules in RFC 3066 speak in terms of "significant
objection" and not consensus, but I don't think long-term implications are
insignificant.
