Erik pretty much said he didn't know what the records did, he was brainstorming.
What about?
104.164.92.66.in-addr.arpa. PTR xd--strae-oqa.shinkuro.com.
That shouldn't break anything, although admittedly reverse DNS isn't very consistent. Clients could require that the name at least mapped to the name they were looking for.
What about an IDN type? :)

Sure, no one would currently know to look for it, but that would eventually work itself out.
