I almost agree with this, but, first of all I think the "mapping"  
document(s) should instead start from very explicitly whatever  
application/use/specification the user uses, and then drill down to  
the IDNA2008 spec. Not the other way around.

For example, I think what you have written very much is what could be  
a specification on "how web browsers map/handle IDNA2008". Maybe in  
other contexts slightly different mappings are needed? I am  
specifically talking about the protocol specific characters like '.'  
and '/' and how to calculate and manage bidi contexts.

Secondly, I do not want those to block the release of IDNA2008.

So, I am all in favor of such documents.
