Okay. So make it an "academy", plain and simple.

Pro:
  1) descriptive and neutral (the only entity academy was maintaining 
over the years)
  2) folks would receive instant clue how to write it ("akademiya in 
English")
  3) 7 letters
Contra:
  ?

No difficulty there. In academic sources, it's considered to be one 
single entity with imperfect initial codification, modified as necessary 
over the years. Are the finer details needed?
