This CRL extension conveys a monotonically increasing sequence number for each CRL issued by a given CRL issuer through a given CA directory attribute or CRL distribution point. It allows a CRL user to detect whether CRLs issued prior to the one being processed were also seen and processed.

This extension is always non-critical.
