Interesting & good timing.  There's a separate effort I'm involved with 
that aims to bring adaptive streaming over http to open codecs.  It's 
orthogonal to the discussion going on here, but it's good to keep this 
kind of cross-pollination going.  (Most of that discussion is going on 
on the FOMS list, actually.)
