I agree with this.  I think that asking the IESG to do to much does
create a scaling problem.  I know (even if I were qualified) that
I would not have the time & maybe not the desire to be an IESG
member.

Getting more clueful people involved has been suggested (for example,
as expert reviewers).  I'm wondering how many people here feel like
they would volunteer time for this kind of activity.  On a few
occassions, I've given my opinion on some drafts when asked by
an AD, but I'm having a lot of trouble keeping up with things in
the IETF needed by my day job.
