Need decisions on proposed new and updated subtags

CLDR has apparently decided to do the -u- extension on its own.  In which case is this redundant?

It's your call.

I had suggested the original two-week extension in hopes that more discussion would shed new light on the issues and possible solutions.
Since January 13, however, the only additional comment was from David Starner, which was, I think (bot not sure), that a language + language combination has the same justification as language + region: both allow flexibility that is seldom used.

The fact that no other subtags for hybrids besides Spanglish have been proposed on this list, despite talk of them, may be telling.

As stated before, I'm concerned about having Spanglish text be tagged as either a variety of English or a variety of Spanish, which is what en-xxx or es-xxx would mean. I'm also concerned about having two mechanisms for the same thing. But I appear to be the lone voice expressing these concerns and the decision is yours.
