In the matter of vocabulary, the WP rule is to use Basic English
vocabulary first, but if necessary to use the Basic English 1500-word
vocabulary, and then the VOA Special English vocabulary. So these
varieties are closely intertwingled. For details, see
<https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_write_Simple_English_pages>.

Note, by the way, that this is a WP guideline, not a WP policy.

I marvel at the creature: so secret and so sly as he is, to come sporting
in the pool before our very window. Does he think that Men sleep without
watch all night? --Faramir
