And, to continue the conversation I am now largely having with myself,
"3. en-emod" can be struck off too as not meeting the ABNF for the
variant production. That doesn't leave many compliant choices on my
list, and the forms with "early" fully spelled out are ugly. Michael
doesn't like "en-emode". That only leaves "en-emodern".
