If a registry updates the client, then I'd put them in the shoes of the client.  The registry still can't enforce lookup behavior on other clients.

The WG has been observing that there're no cops for the zone operators, so the clients can't enforce "good" behavior.  That works both ways :)

at least one registry supplies patches for software of its choice, for reasons of its own.
