Document: draft-hoffman-gopher-uri-03.txt Reviewer: Elwyn Davies AD: Ted Hardie Review Date: 17 March 2005 Intended status: Proposed Standard Trigger: IETF last call, 3 March 2005 Review: This document splits the registration of the (near obsolete) gopher (incorporating gopher+) URI scheme out of RFC1738 so that RFC1738 can be made obsolete whilst maintaining the gopher scheme on standards track. The substantive parts of main body of the document (section 2) appear to be a faithful copy of Section 3.4 of RFC1738. It is therefore (over) ready for PS give or take two queries and an editorial nit: - In the abstract we have 'This document specifies the gopher1 Uniform...' === I presume this is a mistake rather than intentional and should be 'gopher'. - Although this is not a new scheme, I guess this document ought to have a short IANA considerations section instructing IANA to update the reference for the gopher URI scheme from RFC1738 to whatever RFC this becomes. - Section 3: For consistency in the second sentence: s/gopher protocol/Gopher protocol/
