Standards for secure E-mail
Security standards do not work together!!!
Candidates include:
- X.400 - not interesting in this community
- PEM - needs infrastructure that is not here yet
- PGP - not standard, but heavily used
- MOSS - can be used as PEM, but also like PGP
- Waiting for Microsoft to define something
Of these, only PGP, PEM and MOSS are Internet.
PEM is likely to be a subset of MOSS in the future.
