Sorry, I cannot manage utf-8 as I've said (I can save notepad files in it; but I have to use numbers for certain characters
as I have no way to display those),

and I WANT to use the registry.

And I think that there will be 3rd world people who will want to use the registry and will not have utf-8
(though perhaps Computer Geeks in the 3rd world will have utf-8 as fast as anyone else at least since it displays their characters! And their neighbors' too!)

But it's fine to do the main list in utf-8--

but I think there should be indicated -- on that main list -- a link to the unofficial lists (Stephane's page)!
So, just go ahead and use utf-8, because you are right;
it is time the libraries here in the USA "got with it";

I know they can add in the fonts for utf-8; I know they have room on the computer,
and a nice fast connection too; they have no excuse!
Post a notice to all libraries that such stuff will be primarily available in utf-8 so they had better switch!
(It is the library holding it up here; not the hardware or even the primary software.)

(P.S. Offhand does anyone know how many computers say the Gates Foundation is planning to donate to 3rd world libraries? They should all get-state-of-the-art hardware & software
Then there would be no excuse for not having utf-8. Is anyone on the list planning to do anything to . . . )
