Here is the fourth and final set of record and registration forms
reflecting changes made to ISO 639-3 last January. This large and
complex set of changes is from the section "Updates: Name, Scope,
Macrolanguage membership, Denotation changes" in the Summary of Outcomes
document. The title reflects the complexity: all of those scenarios are
represented here, often in combination.
This set excludes two name changes for 'aot' and 'dri' listed in the
document under "No number", not because there is no number, but because
those changes don't appear to have been implemented in the ISO 639-3
data files. I've sent the 639-3 Registrar a note asking about these.
Also not included here are the changes to add and remove membership
within the macrolanguage 'gon' (Gondi), because those were already
covered in the forms in the second set dealing with the split of
Southern Gondi.
And I've also set aside the forms for adding the name "Odia" to the
existing code element for "Oriya (individual language)" but not for the
macrolanguage code. That is a separate discussion that I want to address
in another post.
I did include the deprecation of 'tne' with a Preferred-Value of 'kak',
even though it hasn't yet been removed from the ISO files, because that
is clearly an oversight; the web pages and the Retirements file agree
that 'tne' was supposed to be retired.
Whew.
If you want to follow along with the S of O document as you review, keep
in mind that in this section, one line item can spawn several LSR forms;
when the denotation of one code element is expanded to include another,
that really means that the second is being retired. So although these
forms follow the same order as the document (as in all of these posts),
they may not seem that way.
