pinyin (and wadegile) request has gotten derailed

seems that the sticking point is that the label 'pinyin' is generic in some
sense (even though most people normally just think of Hanyu Pinyin outside
of PRC and Taiwan), but the registration request is very specific
couldn't we just short circuit this discussion put in an application for
something like 'hpinyin' for Hanyu Pinyin romanisation of Mandarin? and move
on.
if other pinyin variants need to be registed then they can be when they need
to be?
Just a though, feel free ot ignore ;)
