Your ISO 639-2 request

Dear Karen Broome,

Your request is being processed. The normal procedure is that members of the ISO 639 Joint Advisory Committee discusses each proposal for a limited period of time based on the submission and some additional information provided by the JAC chair and secretary. That "limited period" ended on 30 September. I apologize that I as JAC secretary was a bit behind in the processing of proposals this summer.

I will today submit a ballot to voting members of the JAC. Since there were no "negative" comments during the discussion, I should expect that balloting would be rather quick.

Thank you very much for your interest.

Sincerely yours,
Håvard Hjulstad
(ISO 639 JAC secretary)

Subject: Your ISO 639-2 request

I am still waiting for resolution or an update on this request. This request was submitted on June 15th. I would like to know the reason for the continued delay of this request.

Dear Ms. Broome:

I apologize for the delay in processing your request. I sent it on to our
secretary (Havard Hjulstad) some time ago, but I believe he may be away on
holiday (it is that time of year). If I do not hear from him by early next
week, I will go ahead and send it to the ISO 639 JAC for discussion, which
is the next step, and will give it a shorter time frame for discussion. We
will still have to ballot it, however. Again, because of vacation
schedules that could be longer than usual, but we will try to get it
through in a timely manner, so perhaps we can get this finished in a
month.

Rebecca
