If we use something alphabetic like -x-, existing implementations will
not recognize the two parts to the tag, so en-x-mylect would not be
recognized as en. On the other hand, fallback would still happen, so
that a request for en would match resources tagged as en-x-mylect. Also,
if a non-alphabetic like (say) + were used, thus en+mylect, then there
might be some existing implementations that would reject it or choke.
Just a couple of thoughts.
