I must say that I do not understand all these kinds of linguistic
discussions and consider they are a major layer violation between
information (scripts) and semantic (language) stratas. Moreover one
cannot regulate the Internet, one can only build it in a way it
self-regulates well/poorly and resists more/less to attacks. <br><br>
This can only be obtained in designing robust protocols that cannot work
if not kept reticularly coherent, i.e. which are _not_ constrained. This
way, what can be changed to use them differently/malevolently is
architectural (hence operability level); not locally to the protocol in
tuning its options and violating its constraints (i.e. at
interoperability and zone level). <br><br>
For reasons, we accepted at the begining, this is not the IDNA's case.
So, our only target in order to hope some operational fiability is to
reduce the incitations to hack IDNA in removing the maximum of hackable
limitations. Not adding them. This will also simplify and speed up its
futher interoperablity with more robust implementations (because more
architecturally/structurally constrained).<br><br>

I want to clarify on an important issue that have been raised

- I totally agree
with Vint conclusion on the digits issue.<br>
- The Marketing
stuff should not drive us far away from our goals since we might be
ending with mixing scripts!!! For example it may be so attractive to
register something like this “معcom” (which means ”with-you”
written in Arabic & ASCII) and believe me this is a real example that
was used by one of the largest telecom providers in the Middle east.<br>
- The example shown
by Aliriza “ ش_/*۴٤*/_.تست.کام . ” requires Internet users
to switch the keyboard layout in order to be able to type that domain (at
least for Arabic language users) and I think this is not the best choice
to do marketing and may confuse Internet users.<br>

- Another point I
think we should not give more power to the registries especially for the
things that can be handled and solved by the protocol levels in order to
ensure the security and stability of the Internet and domain names space.

At the end I am from the .sa Registry and I am not focusing only on my
Registry or my market needs or my language community needs but trying to
expand it to the needs for all the Arabic-Script-based languages (that
include more than 50 languages) and to ensure the security and stability
for domain names written using the Arabic-script regardless of any
special/strange marketing needs.<br>
