Patrik,
Agree. The first is punctuation, the (wicked small "x") full stop
(period) for Cree and others using any of the northern syllabics, and
the second is a symbol, not a character. Think of the latter as a
dingbat. A Maltese Cross rotated 45 degrees. As neither punctuation nor
arbitrary symbols are allowed in domain names, we're done.
