Short-term document publication service

Current instance: internet-drafts. May want more in the future.

Formal IETF document processing support

Track documents through the formal IETF process; currently
the IESG approval cycle; may be extended.
Make status of documents publicly visible.
Send out announcements.
Maintain tools for handling same
Current instance: I-D tracker and iesg-secretary (part)

WG management support

Track WG charters and their modifications through the IESG
Track milestone updates from WG chairs
Issue milestone reminders
Maintain tools for handling same

Formal statement support

Receive formal statements (IPR statements, liaison statements)
file and forward them according to established procedure
Maintain tools for handling same

Meeting support

Arrange teleconference bridges, when required
(current: IESG + IAB + Nomcom + EDU team)
Arrange secretariat minute-taking functions when required (IESG)
Archive and publish minutes from meetings

IETF meeting scheduling

Schedule WG slots during IETF meetings

IETF proceedings

Collect minutes from IETF meetings, archive and publish

Projects support

Capacity for collating information or resources from other
functions for such things as Nomcom support (mailing list,
web page), responding to subpoenas, ad-hoc projects.....

Archivist

This function collects historical records.
At the moment, the secretariat collects archives from WG mailing lists, whether they are hosted @ietf.org or not and stores old internet-drafts in a nonaccessible place. We can do more, and should.
